  1. Build #3 Update, Headlight Sneak Peak, Aug 11, 2012

Got my sample pieces back from the new anodizers this week. First impression is that the black is slightly more satin on the surface than the pure matte from build 2. I really like it a lot. Thanks to some really good suggestions from my machinist (thanks Robert!), you can see that there are a few cosmetic changes to the lid with the gentle arc along the front edge along with the blended air channels that open up the side slots very nicely. All of the build 3 lights will also have the "DesignShine" ...

  2. Build #3 Update, July 16, 2012

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic, but my machinist says that he started cutting "production" parts this past weekend! Not sure yet how long it will take to cut the entire batch. Meanwhile, I've been finishing up the additional battery packs. I'm looking forward to getting the new housings in hand and seeing how many I can get done before the school season starts up again for the kids. If you're on the reserve list for some lights, I really appreciate your patience!

Still cooking right along on the new build. Hoping to see the last iteration on the new headlight this week.
Getting all the extra components ordered for the "plus-up" on the taillight quantity for build 3.

Thought the blog readers might be interested in seeing it.

  4. Build #3 Update + Taillight Sneak Peak, June 13, 2012

Hooray! After a hard fought battle with his new shop location's building wiring, my CNC machinist final won out and got all of his equipment repaired and functioning again. Consequently, he and I have gone back and forth a few times after the initial sample pieces were cut, putting the final touches on a few dimensions here and there. Most importantly, this new housing is going to make assembly a LOT easier and faster. Thanks to the miracle of CNC machining, I now have an o-ring groove in the ...

  5. May 16, 2012: Build #2 Riding Impressions + Build #3 Status

Well, build #2 is drawing to a close. Some good feedback has been collected on the review forum and hopefully some more will come in as time goes by. Only a few more units remain to be shipped out, and I've really enjoyed getting to do some "extended" testing with new flash patterns at night.

Pre-ordering for build #3 is also coming to a close. Most of the hardware that was planned for build #3 has already been spoken for, so at this point, I'm more or less populating ...
